AI guardrails and compliance for generative AI
Preamble, founded in 2020, is a Pittsburgh-based, veteran-led startup that provides a comprehensive AI safety and security platform designed to help enterprises deploy generative AI systems safely, with full lifecycle oversight, compliance, and guardrails.
The company has raised just over $4 million and is led by CEO Jeremy McHugh and co-founder CPO Jon Cefalu. Preamble has secured key milestones including a granted US patent in October 2024 for its method to mitigate prompt injection attacks in large language models. Its platform offers no-code guardrail deployment, customizable AI policy libraries, real-time monitoring of AI workflows and integration with regulatory standards such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and EU AI Act.
Preamble also participates in the NVIDIA Inception program, and has been selected for US government contracts (e.g., SBIR with the Air Force), reflecting its emphasis on high-assurance, enterprise-grade AI Governance.
